150+ Neighbors, Endless Smiles: Recapping the 2026 Serene Hills Neighborhood Block Party
There are moments that remind you exactly why you chose to plant roots in a place. Last weekend at La Campana Park, over 150 Serene Hills neighbors came together for an afternoon of food, laughter, face paint, balloon animals, and the kind of easy, joyful connection that only a true community can create. The 2026 Serene Hills Neighborhood Block Party was one of those moments — and we are already counting down to next year.

La Campana Park Comes Alive
Tucked at 705 Crestone Stream Drive, La Campana Park transformed into a neighborhood celebration hub as families streamed in under the shade of Texas live oaks. Colorful balloons marked the way, the scent of tacos drifted through the air, and the sound of kids' laughter filled every corner. From strollers to seniors, Serene Hills showed up — and showed out.
Food That Brought Everyone to the Table
A neighborhood party isn't a neighborhood party without incredible food, and this one delivered. Torchy's Tacos provided the taco spread — because when you're in Austin, you go Torchy's — with chips, queso, and a full build-your-own taco setup that had lines forming fast. No complaints. Between bites and good conversation, neighbors who had never met found themselves swapping street addresses and Instagram handles. Food really does bring people together.
Danny's Ice Cream Truck — The Crowd Favorite
If you want to know what pure joy looks like, watch a child sprint toward an ice cream truck. Danny's Ice Cream rolled up and immediately became the most popular spot in the park. Kids dragged parents over, parents "helped" finish the popsicles, and grandparents smiled knowingly. It was one of the sweetest parts of an already sweet afternoon — literally.

Face Painting: Butterflies, Dragons, and Everything In Between
The face painting booth was pure magic. Two incredibly talented artists transformed little faces into butterflies, dragons, flowers, and fantastical creatures. The line stayed long from start to finish — because once one kid walked away with a painted masterpiece, every other kid immediately knew exactly what they needed. Parents grabbed photos; kids compared cheeks. It was one of those small details that made the whole event feel truly special.
Balloon Animals That Sparked Pure Delight
Alongside the face painters, a talented balloon artist twisted and twirled colorful balloons into dogs, flowers, swords, and crowns. Watching toddlers clutch their balloon creations while running through the park was simply one of the best things this neighborhood has ever seen. The balloon artist kept every child smiling and every parent's phone camera busy.
Dogs, Babies & Everything That Makes a Neighborhood Real
One of the truest signs of a tight-knit neighborhood? When the block party looks exactly like real life — dogs on leashes, babies in strollers, grandparents in lawn chairs, and kids racing between activities. Serene Hills delivered all of it. Golden retrievers got belly rubs from new friends. Newborns were passed between admiring neighbors. Older kids taught younger ones the best routes through the park. This is community in its most authentic form.
Thank You to the HOA Social Committee
None of this happens without people who care. The Serene Hills HOA sponsored the event, but it was the tireless work of the Social Committee — Jessica, Diana, Gayle, and Kelly — that turned a good idea into an unforgettable afternoon. From coordinating vendors and food to setting up tables dressed in cheerful blue-checked tablecloths, these four women poured their hearts into every detail. Serene Hills is lucky to have them. If you see them around the neighborhood, say thank you — they've earned it.
Why Events Like This Matter in Austin's Growth
Austin is growing fast. New subdivisions pop up constantly, and it's easy for neighborhoods to feel more like collections of houses than actual communities. Events like the Serene Hills Block Party are a quiet act of resistance against that — a declaration that neighbors are more than strangers who share a zip code. They are the people who wave from driveways, check in after storms, celebrate milestones, and show up when it matters. Serene Hills gets that. Saturday proved it beautifully.
